What’s next for Nick Aldis after his loss to GUNTHER at WWE SummerSlam? Fans didn’t have to wait long to find out.

Nick Aldis stepped down from his role as the SmackDown General Manager to make his WWE in-ring debut against GUNTHER at SummerSlam. He put on a valiant performance at the event, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Ring General, and he ended up tapping out to the Sleeper Hold. He had an emotional moment with his wife Mickie James and his son in the ring after the match.

After the match, backstage interviewer Cathy Kelley caught up with Nick Aldis during the SummerSlam post-show. As he began expressing his thoughts, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H walked in wanting to check on him. Aldis, who wanted to speak to the Game, ended up handing him an official resignation letter from his position as SmackDown General Manager.

Triple H appreciated Nick Aldis for being a man of his word and also commended him for taking care of his business with GUNTHER in the ring. The Game said he was proud of Aldis for fighting for what he believed in and for what he did tonight. However, he didn’t accept his resignation and tore up the letter.

Triple H then reinstated Nick Aldis as the SmackDown General Manager. He advised him to stay away from GUNTHER and asked him to get back to work. Commentator Michael Cole mentioned the Ring General wanting to end Aldis’ in-ring career during the show. So it will be interesting to see if he returns to the ring in the future or if SummerSlam marked the end of his wrestling career..
