- *To Catch a Predator* star Chris Hansen has responded to Robert Pattinson playing him in a new movie.

- Hansen offered a cryptic reaction to the *Primetime* movie trailer, which dropped earlier this week.

- "What will they think of next?" Hansen replied to a NewsNation reporter's question.

*To Catch a Predator* star Chris Hansen offered a cryptic response to the first look at Robert Pattinson's portrayal of him in the recently released trailer for the upcoming thriller film *Primetime*.

Earlier this week in an interview with NewsNation, Jesse Weber inquired about Hansen's thoughts on Pattinson playing him in the Lance Oppenheim-directed movie about Hansen's work exposing child predators on the* Dateline NBC* reality program *To Catch a Predator*.

"What? There’s a movie trailer? What will they think of next?" Hansen said when Weber brought up the teaser, which includes Pattinson uttering a line that confirms long-standing speculation that he'd portray Hansen in the project.

“He’s an actor, right? Young, talented guy?” Hansen asked. Weber pressed on: "I mean, he sounds a lot like you. Did you have any idea about this? Did you have any working relationship with this?"

Hansen offered a guarded response, telling Weber, "We had heard that there was something like this in the works. They reached out to me this week, and I’ve been asked not to talk about it a great deal at this point."

Still, he went on to call the trailer "very dramatic," and said he'd return to NewsNation to speak about the film when timing felt right.

The *Primetime* trailer teases Pattinson's role in the seemingly moody drama, which also stars Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and recording artist Phoebe Bridgers.

"What would have happened if I wasn't here," Pattinson said in the teaser trailer. "You see how this looks, right? At the end of the day, a man must be held accountable for the decisions that he makes, would you agree? Do you watch television? Well, there is something you should know. I'm Chris Hansen, with *Dateline NBC*, and you're about to be a part of television history."

*To Catch a Predator* first premiered in 2004, and saw Hansen's crew filming and exposing people in sting operations after they showed up to various locations believing they were meeting underage people. The show led to the arrests of multiple people and sparked national conversations about child abuse protections.

*Primetime* releases this fall in theaters, though an exact date has yet to be announced.
