All Mariah Carey wants for Christmas is more Christmas!
The "All I Want for Christmas Is You" singer has become synonymous with the festive holiday season, and now that it's the new year she's having a tough time letting go. In a video posted to her social media account on Saturday, the 56-year-old shared how she's handling things while her Christmas decorations are being taken down as the holiday season officially comes to a close.

In the video set to her song, "In Your Feelings," two of Carey's friends are seen beginning to take ornaments off her Christmas tree before the singer bursts onto the scene. Carey is visibly distraught as she objects to them taking down the decorations, repeatedly shouting, "No!"
As Carey captioned the video, "When they say 'Christmas is over.'"

Carey had a lot to celebrate this season — and not just spending time with her 14-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe. Earlier this year, a lawsuit alleging that her iconic holiday song, "All I Want for Christmas Is You," had another of the same name was dismissed.
In March, U.S. District Judge Monica Almadani ruled that songwriters Andy Stone, whose stage name is Vince Vance, and Troy Powers hadn't provided enough evidence that Carey's song had infringed on their 1989 country song. In their suit filed in November 2023, the duo alleged that Carey's 1994 hit required a license of their track and a songwriting credit, and sought $20 million.
Considering how the single has become a staple for the holiday season, ending up on the charts every year since its release, the win was a huge one for Carey who celebrated the 30th anniversary of her classic holiday album Merry Christmas in 2024.

The album, which includes "All I Want for Christmas Is You," and her covers of songs such as "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," "Silent Night," and "Joy to the World," has sold over 18 million copies, making it one of the biggest holiday albums of all time.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly in 2019, Carey admitted she had been initially hesitant about putting out her first Christmas album. "I didn't feel, from a strategic point of view, that it was time to do something like that," Carey said. "As much as I love Christmas, I thought that the record company was off. Obviously, I couldn't have been more wrong."

"'All I Want for Christmas Is You' gives me a feeling of happiness I can't describe, so it's a different thing," Carey noted when reflecting on the song's success among her many others. "Yes, it's a hugely successful song. Do I think it's the best song that I've ever written? I don't know how to judge that. [But] it has its own place for me."
