Kim Kardashian is "very happy" in her relationship with Lewis Hamilton, according to an exclusive source

The Kardashians star, 45, and the race car driver, 41, went Instagram-official with their relationship back in April after vacationing together with her 4 kids in March

A source tells PEOPLE the fact that the SKIMS founder allows Hamilton around her children shows just "how much she trusts him," adding that she's "very selective" with who she brings around her children

Kim Kardashian is "very happy" in her relationship with Lewis Hamilton, according to an exclusive source.

The Kardashians star, 45, and the race car driver, 41, went Instagram-official with their relationship back in April after rumors of their romance picked up in March when Hamilton left a flirty comment under Kardashian's posts. Later that month, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the pair were vacationing together in Tokyo alongside Kardashian's four kids, Psalm, 7, Chicago, 8, Saint, 10, and North, 12, whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West.

Now, a source tells PEOPLE the fact that the SKIMS founder allows Hamilton around her children shows just "how much she trusts him," adding that she's "very selective" with who she brings around her children.

"Kim's very selective when it comes to the people she allows around her kids. She's very protective of them and doesn't take new introductions lightly," the insider adds. "The fact that Lewis has spent time with the kids reflects how much she trusts him."

Kardashian and Hamilton first sparked dating rumors after a "romantic meetup" in Paris in early February 2026, a source confirmed to PEOPLE at the time. The pair have known each other for more than a decade, dating back to at least 2014 when they both attended the GQ Men of the Year ceremony, and Kardashian was seen greeting him with a friendly kiss on the cheek.

The source adds that Kardashian "never wanted to rush anything" between her and Hamilton, emphasizing that she's "very happy" with their relationship.

"She's never wanted to rush anything, but she's very happy with where things are," the insider says. "He's a great guy."

The mom of four went Instagram official with Hamilton on Monday, April 6, with an Instagram Reel from the Formula One driver. In the clip, the two could be seen on a high-speed drive, which showed him whipping around in his Ferrari F40 at the Daikoku Parking Area in Tokyo, Japan.

"HERE WE GO AGAIN 🇯🇵 TOKYO DRIFT VOL. III," Hamilton wrote in the caption of the Reel, which was set to the song "Victory Lap" by Skepta, PlaqueboyMax and Fred Again.

At the end of the video, Kardashian could be seen in the passenger's seat wearing a white turtleneck top. When the camera approached her in the car, the mother of four said, "That's insane," after her joy ride with Hamilton.

Later that month, the pair were spotted spending time together in Los Angeles. The businesswoman smiled in some photos, but remained low-key with oversized shades in others. Days earlier, Kardashian and Hamilton were seen watching Justin Bieber’s Coachella set on Saturday, April 11.

In addition to their time in Tokyo, Los Angeles and at Coachella, the two were spotted together during Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Sunday, Feb. 8. A source told PEOPLE that “they were both going to the game anyway,” and it worked out that they could make the event into a date night.

“They ended up spending time together in the same suite as a big group of friends,” the source said. “It wasn't a formal date, more like a relaxed friends-focused setting. Kim liked having a little one-on-one time with him too. They have plans to see each other again soon."
