Jenna Bush Hager and Savannah Guthrie’s kids are as close as they are.

Bush Hager recalled how her daughter Poppy often looked after Guthrie’s son Charley when they were younger.

“The teachers were like, their relationship is beyond anything, brother and sister, because no sister would do that for their little brother,” Bush Hager said.

Jenna Bush Hager and Savannah Guthrie are the best of friends, so it’s no surprise that their kids get along swimmingly. On the latest episode of Bush Hager’s podcast “Open Book With Jenna,” the 44-year-old Today host described the close bond that her daughter shares with Guthrie’s son.

Bush Hager and her husband Henry Hager have three children: 13-year-old Mila, 10-year-old Poppy, and 6-year-old Hal. Guthrie, meanwhile, has an 11-year-old daughter, Vale, and a 9-year-old son, Charley, with husband Michael Feldman.

“We were next door neighbors in New York City...you know, both of us aren’t from here,” Bush Hager said of her friendship with Guthrie. “So it really made New York feel like this small town.”

Because Poppy and Charley are so close in age, they’ve developed a special bond. Bush Hager went on to explain how her daughter felt protective of Charley when they were younger.

“Poppy would walk Charley every single day to Pre-K and drop him off,” Bush Hager shared. “The teachers were like, their relationship is beyond anything, brother and sister, because no sister would do that for their little brother.”

In April, Bush Hager revealed that her eldest daughter effectively banned her from her volleyball games. On an episode of Today with Jenna and Sheinelle, the broadcaster admitted that her over-the-top cheering got her into trouble.

“I’ve gotten kicked out by my child,” she shared.

“Well, I didn’t get kicked out, like, removed immediately. I got put into a free zone,” she explained. “I was watching her [play] volleyball. I love cheering. I love to cheer...but I also love heckling.”

While Bush Hager said she didn’t heckle at Mila’s game, she did get a bit too worked up. “The score was six to seven, and I go, ‘Six seven!’ And Mila looked at me like this,” she added, imitating the look of disgust on her daughter’s face.

“Afterwards, I was frozen out,” said the mother-of-three. “I went to one volleyball game this year.”
