Actress Angel Boris is opening up about the fan reaction to her Beverly Hills, 90210 character coming between the most beloved couple of the show.
On an episode of the 90210MG podcast released on Friday, Apr. 3, Boris spoke with Jennie Garth, who starred on the series as Kelly Taylor — a bubbly high school student in a relationship with Brandon Walsh, played by Jason Priestley.
Boris appeared in season eight of the show as Emma Bennett, a journalist who seduces Brandon.
Following a one-night stand between the two, a devastated Kelly breaks up with Brandon and calls off their wedding.
Calling it "a very hard role to step into," Boris, 51, said, "When you're dealing with a couple like Brandon and Kelly, such a power couple that have been together for so long, and then in comes this bitch, you know, basically avixen, homewrecker. And, you know, it's hard to walk in and be that person to shake things up. And for a long time, right after it had aired, it was hard because I'm really sensitive."

"So I was like listening and stupidly going online and reading what people were saying and they were ripping me apart," Boris added. "I was like, 'Oh my God. Oh my God. They hate me.' But I realized that, well, 'Maybe that just means I did a good job because they hate me that much.' It's so far from who I am. But it was super fun to play."

Boris added that in real life, "People thought I was really, really that awful for so long."

Centered on a group of siblings and friends living in the posh Southern California town of Beverly Hills during their high school years and beyond, the show made stars of its young cast, which included Garth, Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green.
The series finale aired on May 17, 2000.
Beverly Hills, 90210 later spawned a spinoff, Melrose Place, along with the 2008 reboot, 90210. In 2019, many of the show's original stars returned for BH90210, a revival that was based on the real lives of the cast.
